I have been pretty busy these past two days. My uncle's surgery went great. The doctors feel like they got all of the cancer, but will know for sure hopefully tomorrow (I think) when they get test results back. I saw him yesterday and again today and he looked great both times! He was hoping to be moved to a regular room late this afternoon, but I'm not sure if he did.
Well, I'm not full of news today, just thought that I'd post about my uncle. Thanks for the prayers and keep sending them up for him!

Classroom of Fun (yeah right...)
Well, nothing big has been happening around here lately. I worked in my classroom yesterday and today for several hours each day. It's amazing how much stuff there is to do before starting a new school year. I finished up getting my new math stuff filed, but I haven't started putting up the meeting board for it yet. I still have a lot to do, but I'm hoping to get the majority done this week so that I can just chill out Monday and Tuesday, before starting back Wednesday. It's hard to believe that our summer break is already almost over!
My uncle is having surgery in the morning. He was diagnosed with colon cancer a few weeks ago. Please keep him in your prayers!

Good Times
I caught up with an old friend last night. We ate supper and went to a few stores. A funny thing happened at Sam's. My friend, Melinda, was looking at the digital cameras. She took my picture with one, and then looked at the pictures that were stored on the camera's internal memory. As she was flipping through she saw a picture of my brother and my nephew. Crazy!! Also, their picture is the picture right before the one of me. I called my sister-in-law to ask what they were doing playing with cameras in Sam's. She said that my niece was playing with that same camera the night before. I still can't get over it!
Today, I spent several hours in my classroom trying to get things ready for the new school year. Our new math series came in, and it is one that requires A LOT of preparation to have it all set up. I spent about 2 hours on that alone and didn't even get a third finished. I guess I know what I'll be doing next week! Feel free to come help me if you feel the urge!
Oh, and by the way...Lance, go get your own soda and chips! ;) And while you're at it, get me some too!

Wife Swap
Where do they find the lunatics they show on the show Wife Swap? I'm not a huge fan of the show, but every time I watch it I think the people on there must all be paid actors.
Lance, if you read this (which I don't think you do...), if you ever get the idea that you are my master and can demand me to do things, you've got another thing coming! Haha... :)

Hoover, Hair, and Bowling
This has been an exciting week! Tuesday, I went to visit Olivia (& Cooper and Justin) in Hoover and came back Thursday. We had a great time while I was there. :) Wednesday, I bravely got my hair cut by a lady who could hardly speak English. I basically told her that I wanted something different, but not super short. Well, apparently, she thought "I give girl mullet." Well...that's exactly what she did! I didn't mind it so bad after I left there (especially after I "tamed" down my new bouffant). The next day when I washed and styled it myself, I began to realize how much of a mullet it was. She started layers at the top of my head. She did about 5 or so layers, and then just kept the rest of my hair the same. After washing it again this morning, it was AWFUL! I ended up going to someone this morning to "fix" it. She had to clean the layers up and take off a good bit, but I really like it now. And, to top it all off, I finally found a new stylist that I like! So, after an embarrassing 'do, I'm liking the newest one. Another horrible thing...I had to pay out the "wazoo" for the mullet. The cut today was less than half the price!
After getting my hair cut today, I went bowling with Angela, Hannah, & Hunter (and some of their friends). We had a good time. I didn't get any strikes, but I did manage to get several spares. I came in 2nd for the first game and tied for 1st for the second game.

Wall-E and the Fourth
I hope that everyone had a great fourth of July! Lance and I had a quiet day. We just hung around the house, watching "What Not to Wear" and "King of the Hill" marathons on TV. We also ended up watching a movie later. Lance did get out and cut the grass before it rained, but I did not do anything productive other than cook breakfast and supper.
Tonight we're headed off to my aunt and uncle's house for a cookout. I have been wanting a hamburger, so tonight I'll finally get one! :)

Still Twitching
My arm is STILL TWITCHING! It's about to literally drive me crazy. I go to the doctor tomorrow, so I may say something to him about it. It doesn't twitch as often now, but when it does, it's harder to stop. I can see how someone would absolutely go insane over something like this!

Arm Twitching and Revival
Things have been going good in the Dean household. There really isn't a lot to write about, but I would give it a try.
I've had trouble with my underarm lately. For the last week or so it has been twitching like crazy. I don't know what's going on with it. For about the past two days it has gotten worse. It even woke me up some last night and kept me awake a lot. It's doing it right now and I'm about ready to just cut my arm off.
Lance and I went to a revival service tonight at the church I went to growing up. The sermon was good and it was great seeing some old family and friends.
Well, this has been short and sweet (kinda like me..haha), but it'll have to do. :)

Weekend
Thursday night Lance and I checked out the new Chili's in Meridian. We waited about 20 minutes to get a table, which we thought was pretty good. Then when it came to getting our food.... we waited so long that we almost got up and left. We both ordered simple foods (he got a burger, I got a salad), but from the time we sat down at the table to the time we got our food, it was over an hour. The food was good, but definitely no worth waiting that long for.
Friday night we had some friends from church over for supper. It was nice... food was good (if I do say so myself...) and the fellowship was nice. It was supposed to be a "movie night" but we ended up not watching a movie. Everyone left except for two people, so the two of them (and me a little) ended playing with my Nintendo Wii. I wonder now if their arm hurt the next day. :)
Well, that's about it...nothing big to write about Saturday and Sunday. Later.

I Don't Know What to Call This...
Yeah, I know...it's already been a while since I updated. Well, you'll get over it! ;)
We had a good weekend. Lance's old college roommate got married in Oxford. We went there Saturday for the wedding and reception, which were both absolutely beautiful. We really had a good time and are glad that we were able to be there! Saturday night we stayed in Oxford. Before we left town Sunday morning, we went around the campus. Neither of us are Ole Miss fans, but we figured we'd check out the campus since we were there. Oxford really is a nice town and so was the campus.
After leaving Oxford, we headed to Tupelo to check out the Tupelo Flea Market. Lance was not impressed, but I wished I had more money to spend! After spending a little time there we headed home. When we got close to the Columbus exits on the highway, we decided to stop in Starkville and see how much the Mississippi State campus had changed and try to find alumni stickers. We went to the new Barnes and Nobles Bookstore on campus and went inside the newly rebuilt Union. Wow, it was very different!
We drove around the campus and Starkville for a while (never did find alumni stickers...the bookstore was sold out), and then headed out. Sunday night we went to my parents' house for Father's Day. My mom's family was there for a cookout (yummy) and we had to pick up Dozer. He was staying with my parents while we were gone.
Monday was our 7th wedding anniversary. We ate at Olive Garden for supper and we both ate entirely too much! It was good, but the thought of going there again makes me feel sick!
Yesterday I met Amy at the Daily Grind for lunch (super yummy) and then we did a little shopping. We ended up seeing M. Night Shyamalan's new movie The Happening. After seeing that movie, I really wonder where he comes up with his ideas! Once again, he created a very crazy movie.
As if this post isn't already random enough, I also wanted to write about how impressed I am with a florist named Sue at Winn-Dixie. Last Sunday was our time to do the flowers at church. I wanted to get something that would be easy for Lance's parents to get since we were out of town, so I thought I'd give Winn-Dixie a try. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous! They were priced MUCH lower than they would have been at a florist, so I was very impressed!
Well, that's it from me today! I'll post a picture of the Ole Miss campus, the new Union at MSU, and the flowers. Also, keep in mind that the flowers were made four days before the picture was taken.

Lazy and Loving It!
Yesterday was a busy day! I had a doctor's appointment that ended up having a 3 hour wait because the doctor had to leave twice for emergencies at the hospital. Then I rushed around town running errands and was late to my parents' house for supper. My grandma (my dad's mom) is staying with my parents for a few days, so my mom was cooking for all of us. There was one good thing about being busy though...I finally got a better night's sleep. Granted, I still tossed and turned for several hours, but I was actually able to sleep late this morning (if you call 10 o'clock late).
Today has been lazy, but productive. I hemmed a dress, cut an undershirt out of a shirt, ordered flowers, washed clothes, and listed a new item to sell on ebay. Things are looking up...

Drained
It's not even 1PM yet, and I am drained! Lance has been working on his website, and he stayed up late trying to figure something out. Well, with the sleeping problems I've been having lately, I stayed up as well. We ended up going to bed around 2:45AM, and then I tossed and turned until after 4:30. Our alarms went off before 6 this morning because Lance had an eye-doctor appointment at 8:00. We just got home about 45 minutes ago after the appointment, getting groceries, and stopping to get lunch. With all that being said, I'm spent!

Welcome to my World
So, I decided to try the whole blog thing again. Those of you that know me know that I used to have a website (click here to see the old site). With everything going on in my life, I got tired of remembering html codes and going through the hassle of uploading updates to the site. With all that being said, here I am in a much easier place. Hopefully, it won't be something for me to forget and I'll keep posting my thoughts and happenings. One thing I can promise is that everything will always been somewhat random. Yeah, I know...that would not make a very scholarly paper and the teacher in me knows better, but it's how my mind (that is ridden with ADD tendencies) works!
Now, for an update on me since my last post on my old site...
I am about to start my third year teaching third grade at Newton County Elementary School. On my last post on my old site, I had just signed a contract for this job after I had been teaching second grade for two years at Forest Elementary School.
In December 2007, I received my master's degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University. This is my first summer in YEARS that I have not been taking classes, so I am trying to get adjusted to that. So far, it has been an easy adjustment!
Lance and I are still happily (most of the time...haha) married. We'll have our seventh anniversary on the 16th of this month.
I have been wanting a Nintendo Wii for months. I started rolling saved change and scrapping any other spare money I could find...(Thank you State Tax Commission for letting me overpay on my taxes!...) With that being said, I finally bought one Thursday and have been playing it regularly. Hopefully, I will get a Wii Fit soon!
Well, I hope that was random enough for everyone! Hopefully, I will be back soon! :)
